Thando Wall Sconce - Slatted

The Thando Wall Sconce is a beautiful way to bring functional texture into your space. Crafted from natural Ilala palm, this small wall sconce will shine light  against a wall from the top and bottom, while casting a stunning dappled glow through the slatted weave.

These wall sconces will work well on either side of a bed or front door; to illuminate an entryway or along a hallway. They are also perfect for adding warmth and personality to a bathroom. When combined with natural linens, warm timbers and other woven items, it contributes to a feeling of effortless style and a relaxed upscale resort vibe.

Inspired by the traditional Ba Tonga community and the contours of their surrounding landscapes, these pendants are handmade by a group of women artisans in Zimbabwe. Each piece is woven using the locally-available Ilala palm around a wire frame. The wire frames are handmade by a small-scale welder. To source these pieces, we have partnered with an ethical craft organisation that is supporting these craftswoman through training, development and finding international markets for their skills.

  - To source these pieces, we have partnered with an ethical craft organisation that is supporting these craftswoman through training, development and finding international markets for their skills. They operate within and across many rural communities throughout Zimbabwe, and draw from a vast artisan resource built over two decades of working within these communities. The products are all handmade, and while the organisation maintains a high standard of production and quality control within the weaving groups, they equally celebrate the individual artisans and their craft.
• - Ilala palm is a natural fibre. As with all natural fibres, variations in colour and thickness may be apparent - we consider this to be part of the charm of handcrafted pieces and not a flaw.
  - To clean, we suggest you vacuum or dust your pendant light regularly.
• - We recommend using a licensed electrician to install your wall sconce light.
  - To hang your light, you can either plug it into a power socket and have the cord showing against the wall or you can have it wired into the wall so the cord isn't showing.
  - For the option where the cord will be showing you will require an attractive electrical cable or cord (try Creative Cables); a lampholder for a 40mm hole; and two small hooks to attach it to the wall. For the option where it will be wired into the wall, your electrician will install the cable inside the walls so you will require a lampholder for a 40mm hole; and two small hooks to attach it to the wall.
