Dhali Basket - Medium

To design the palm fibre Dhali Baskets, we were inspired by an ancient Egyptian basket spotted in a museum several years ago. The beautiful curvaceous shape and woven texture are perfect for shelf, console or vanity styling. Available in three sizes, group two or three together for functional storage that creates a cohesive visual story throughout your home.

Featuring fitted lids, the Dhali Baskets are ideal for concealing those everyday items that you want to keep hidden, yet close at hand. Consider them for storage of skincare and beauty products in the bathroom; for coffee pods and packaged food in the kitchen; styled on a coffee table or shelf in the living room; to hold keys on a console in the entryway; or for storing small toys and craft materials.

Handmade by Fair Trade artisans in a village community of Bangladesh, each Dhali Basket is assembled by bundling kaisa grass; wrapping them in fine strips of date palm fibre and coiling and weaving them into shape. The women who make these pieces work from home or in communal areas of their village and a genuine Fair Trade partnership ensures they are paid fairly for their time and skills, among many other benefits.

• Hand harvested and bundled kaisa grass (inside the palm fibre)
  Hand stripped palm fibre is wrapped around the kaisa grass as they are coiled and woven into shape.
• - Our palm fibre baskets may lighten slightly as the fibre ages.
  - To clean, we suggest you shake or vacuum them to dislodge dirt or dust.
  - They are robust and will withstand some condensation however for heavier water-based spills, blot with kitchen paper or an absorbent cloth as soon as possible and allow them to dry. Do not rub stains or spills from your basket as this may spread the stain and loosen the palm fibres. Please note that oil-based or brightly coloured spills may not be easily removed - we recommend trying the above methods with a gentle eco-friendly cleaner.
